Ctrl+P. 2018-2020
Ctrl+P is a series of paintings in which it is explored the dialogue and unexpected relationships established between the pictorial processes that occurred on the canvas and the pictorial processes that occurred when operating digital image editing programs. The dialogue between the canvas and the screen is not a confrontational or competitive dialogue, rather it works as a symbiotic relationship, in which organisms of different species benefit from each other. In the conformation of the series of paintings that make up this project, photography is used to pass what happened in the material to the digital, software is used to apply effects, distort the image and propose multiple sketches that then go back to the material and sometimes back to the digital; It is a mutable and malleable process that in the end proposes a single static result: the object-painting. When this command is activated on the computer- Ctrl+P, the command to print-, it is moving from the mutable, dynamic and flowing of the digital, to the static plane of the printed image; In this case, Ctrl+P not only refers to the control print, it is also proposed as a control paint.
¿Qué efecto tiene la tecnología digital en la pintura contemporánea? Y esta misma pregunta formulada inversamente: ¿Qué efecto tiene la pintura contemporánea en la tecnología digital? Ctrl+P gira en torno al diálogo y las relaciones inesperadas que se establecen entre los procesos pictóricos ocurridos en el lienzo y los procesos pictóricos ocurridos al operar programas de creación y edición para imagen digital. El diálogo entre el lienzo y la pantalla no es un diálogo confrontativo o competitivo, más bien funciona como una relación simbiótica, en la que organismos de diferentes especies se benefician mutuamente. En la conformación de la serie de pinturas que componen este proyecto, se acude a la fotografía para pasar lo sucedido en lo matérico a lo digital, se acude al software para aplicar efectos, distorsionar la imagen y proponer múltiples bocetos que después pasan de nuevo a lo matérico y a veces de nuevo a lo digital; es un proceso mutable y maleable que al final propone un sólo resultado estático: el objeto-pintura. Cuando se activa este comando en el computador —Ctrl+P, el comando para imprimir—, se está pasando de lo mutable, dinámico y fluyente de lo digital, al plano estático de la imagen impresa; en este caso Ctrl+P no sólo se refiere al control print, también se propone como control paint o control P de pintura y también como control pentimento.
